<description>Well ... Skype is more stable than cell phones generally, in my experience .. perhaps its a question of which version you've tried ?

And of course with iChat or AIM it doesn't have to be IM .. it's voice and video over Internet when using an iSight .. and I just saw a less expensive ice cam (from Macalley) today in a store ... altho' evidently the benefits of an iSight are the quality of the video resolution and the noise reduction capabilities in the microphone.

And .. to reiterate .. I have had almost nothing but great experiences with Skype .. stability doesn't seem to be an issue, in my experience.

<description>Jon, I've been delaying installing Skype until it gets more stable. I don't like IM, but iSight has intrigued me for a while now. I'm one of the "slow adopters".

<description>harry, i think so .. there's a little piece above that suggests "watch for developments in telepresence". The white paper I just completed for a client in Montreal introduced me to much of what's on the horizon in telepresence ... which for me means Skype + collaborative "blogging", or iChat with iSight + some medium for collaborative text work ... all at the same time.

BTW, do you have a Skype handle ... and do you have an iSight for your Mac .. I just got on, so we could actually talk and look at each other in the eyes, if you wish ;-)

<description>I don't mean to belittle the work you put into this -- and I'll be mining it again, I'm sure -- but what caught me right away is the prompting over Skype. Will we all be skypeing each other as we blog someday soon?
