It’s not a mellow gaze. It’s a gimlet-eyed squint overlayed with a BC Bud-induced haze, designed to give terrorists the heebie-jeebies.

And I like both Jennifer and Robert. So that would be good.

I didn’t realize! But now that you mention it, if I were an evildoer, that gaze would make me very cautious. What if you tricked me (assuming I was an evildoer) into smoking the bud, and I forgot to blow things up? That’s a disastrous career move for a terrorist.

I was actually thinking along similar lines yesterday re: domestic terrorism, aka “The War On Drugs”. :et’s try this on for size.

Let’s try taking half the budget of the DEA and say 10% of the major municipal police budgest for all municipalities over 50 or 100k in poulation.

Then decriminalize most “recreational” drugs derived from organics (let’s keep crystal meth illegal), and take the funding from above and create a form of basic social welfare (not to directly fund anyone who wants to consume drugs .. I’m not that “cause and effect” oriented
… but have some form of intelligent soacial safety net.

My guess is that without “the law” to contend with, the natural level of casual drug use would find it self (probably not that much different than levels of use these days, as there is a rythm to peoples’ uptake and subsequent quitting, not unlike drinking or ever-eating or gambling).

What we would mainly have left are people who wander around watching tv or listening to music or playing cards or reading .. and not bothering people so much with break-ins or muggings or car theft, etc. and you’d probably put some major dealers out of business .. especially if you sold the main recreational drugs in regulated stores (along with liquor .. we’ve always had government liquor stores up here and it works just as well as private sector liquor stores).

Much less violence, much calmer people and you wouldn’t have to slowly “kill” people by removing all means of life support by not having social safety nets. Then the governement and mainstream society could certainly entice those who might eventually want to stop wandering around in a drug-induced daze to engage .. either in an occupation or in finding a way to contribute to society.

But for sure the criminalization and ensuing “violence” of enforcement and prison and on and on contributes to the sustainable baseline of a society that has a vilent culture and opsyche as a defining characteristic. It’s an orientation to life and the world .. of dominance and punishment.

As you pointed out, in the current setup forgetting violence and remembering that you could just play cards and listen to music with these other people is a disastrous career move.

Does that mean that 118% resemblance might qualify me for the possibility that you might like me (gotta throw in assessments of personality, values, character, philosophy of life, etc. of course) ?
