For a few months a year or so ago, I tracked each new millionth milestone announced by Technorati’s blogometer, and then gave up.
One year and one month ago, on december 10, 2004 I posted that Technorati had just begun tracking 5 million blogs.
Today Technorati’s blogometer rolled over 25 million blogs being tracked.
That’s 20 million blogs added to the Technorati indexing in 13 months. God knows how many are splogs, or blogs that start up and sputter out quickly, or remain inactive after several posts, and so on … there are a range of possibilities.
That being said, there are still quite a number of blogs being created each week. No doubt some of them will remain in use, find traction and go forth and prosper .. whatever *prosper* means to the publisher who just started that new blog.
Interesting phenomenon.
